Lawyer Spotlight: Siobhan Thacker
Partner & Serious Injury Solicitor
Recover. Rebuild. Thrive.
Helping People Rebuild Their Lives After Life-Changing Injury
At Fletchers Solicitors, the Recover. Rebuild. Thrive. campaign reflects a way of working as much as a set of values. It’s about supporting clients at their most vulnerable, helping them find clarity, access crucial support and make meaningful progress, one day at a time.
For Siobhan Thacker, a Partner and Serious Injury Solicitor, this philosophy is at the heart of her work. With deep expertise in spinal injuries, brain injuries, amputations and complex trauma, Siobhan has dedicated her career to helping clients and their families navigate the aftermath of life-altering accidents and collisions, rebuilding confidence, independence and hope for the future.
Expertise Grounded in Compassion and Understanding
Siobhan’s legal journey is rooted in people first. She supports clients whose lives have been changed in an instant, from catastrophic spinal cord injuries to devastating multiple fractures, and guides them through every stage of their recovery.
Throughout her career, she has achieved well over £50 million in compensation for clients, a testament to both her legal expertise and her unwavering commitment to supporting their futures. But for Siobhan, success is measured not just in figures, but in how clients are supported to reclaim independence and dignity.
“I know how daunting life can feel after a serious injury,” Siobhan explains. “My role is to help remove barriers, bring clarity and be there with clients, not just during the legal process, but throughout their wider recovery.”
This means working collaboratively with medical professionals, rehabilitation specialists and support networks to make sure clients get the support they need when it matters most.
Supporting Life After Spinal Injury: The Spinal Injuries Association
As well as working with other charities, a special focus of Siobhan’s work is her partnership with the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA), the UK’s leading charity supporting people affected by spinal cord injury and their families.
The SIA exists to support people through every stage of life after spinal injury, connecting them with the services, expert advice and community they need to build a fulfilled life. They champion independence, provide practical guidance and ensure those impacted by spinal cord injury know where to turn for help.
Fletchers Solicitors is proud to be a trusted legal partner of the SIA, recognised for specialist expertise in spinal cord injury work. Through this collaboration, Siobhan and the serious injury team help SIA members access clear, practical legal advice tailored to their long-term wellbeing, from rehabilitation and housing to employment and future planning.
“Our partnership with the SIA reflects a shared belief that everyone affected by spinal cord injury deserves the best possible support,” Siobhan says. “Working with them ensures we can help clients both legally and holistically, aligning legal strategy with real-world recovery needs.”
Case Spotlight: Ian’s Journey to Rebuild After Spinal Injury
One of the cases closest to Siobhan’s heart is that of Ian Westmorland, a client referred to Fletchers through the Spinal Injuries Association. Ian’s life was changed forever when he was struck by a speeding van while cycling home, an accident that left him paralysed from the waist down.
The sudden loss of mobility and the emotional fallout pushed Ian to his limits. But through the unwavering support of his family, the strength he drew from his students, and life-changing legal support from Siobhan and the Fletchers team, Ian began to rewrite what was possible.
After emergency surgery and months of specialist spinal rehabilitation, Ian progressed from total dependence to managing independent transfers and self-care. Despite ongoing challenges including neuropathic pain and muscle spasms, he has achieved remarkable physical milestones — including walking short distances with mobility aids and rediscovering sport through adaptive equipment. Mentally, he has navigated profound trauma with the support of specialist therapy and a network that continually encouraged him forward.
“Working with Ian was a powerful reminder of why we do this work,” Siobhan reflects. “Legal support can’t undo what’s happened, but it can unlock access to the rehabilitation, resources and confidence people need to rebuild their lives.”
Proud to Be Part of Fletchers Solicitors
Siobhan is proud to work at a firm that values the full recovery journey, not just legal outcomes. “Fletchers truly understands that recovery is about more than compensation,” she says. “It’s about helping people find stability, build independence and create a meaningful future.”
Within a collaborative team that includes rehabilitation specialists, support networks and external partners like the Spinal Injuries Association, Siobhan ensures clients receive holistic support tailored to their priorities and long-term wellbeing.
