Michelle Heyes

I’m a Partner, Director of our Serious Injury team, and Head of our Southport Office, with a 30-year background in personal injury litigation.

In my role as Head of Department, I lead a team of highly skilled and experienced lawyers who work tirelessly to achieve the very best results for our seriously injured clients. I help with the smooth running of the department and work on projects to develop the team.

I joined Fletchers in 1992 in a junior role and over five years and part time study, I progressed to a lead lawyer position. I then continued to run my own caseload for around 25 years, before moving to leadership positions within our Serious Injury team. I developed first as a Team Leader, then as Head of Department and Partner, before becoming Director in November 2025.

I’m proud to be the Head of our Southport Office – a role which sees me engage with all of our Southport based colleagues and get involved in supporting some local events, charities and schools/colleges.

I do this work because when someone suffers a serious injury, everything changes for them in terms of their health and independence, their finances and sometimes their sense of identity. The legal process can feel overwhelming and what matters to me is that our clients feel properly supported, listened to, cared for and fought for, so that they can rebuild their lives as far as possible, whether that’s with rehabilitation, financial security or long-term care.

My own approach as a lawyer dealing with personal injury cases, was always to have my client at the core of every decision, understanding and addressing their individual needs and concerns, and with a focus on achieving the very best outcome for them. Though I no longer deal with cases day-to-day, I’m proud to lead the team that does, and that continues to put our clients at the heart of all we do.

I joined the company many years ago and though I’ve seen lots of change and growth over that time, strong leadership and a supportive and encouraging culture have always remained and been important to me.

I love to spend time with my lovely husband, three grown up kids and grandson. I’ve always got some home project or another going on and to relax, love a good book.
