Who am I

I’m the Lead Rehabilitation and Wellbeing Manager at Fletchers, bringing over forty years’ experience as a Registered General Nurse and more than twenty years working in case management.

My career spans the NHS, insurance, disability assessment and national rehabilitation companies, and I’ve supported people with spinal injuries, brain injuries, complex care needs and mental health challenges.

I focus on helping clients recover, rebuild and thrive after life-changing injury. My role allows me to combine clinical expertise with a person-centred, holistic approach, supporting individuals and their families through the challenges they face and ensuring they have the right rehabilitation, care and wellbeing support at every stage. I’m known for bridging the clinical, legal and personal aspects of rehabilitation, supporting clients and their families through every stage of recovery.

What I specialise in

Why I do this work

I do this work because I’m a nurse at heart and I love helping people. This role gives me the time and space to make a real difference, sometimes in simple ways, sometimes in life-changing ones. I have strong active listening skills, which are essential in understanding what clients truly need. Seeing the impact my support can have is what keeps me doing this work; it’s genuinely addictive. Fletchers puts the client first, and as a nurse, it has always been about the individual for me.

How I work with clients

My approach is empathetic, person-centred and holistic. I support clients with whatever they are facing, whether that’s navigating rehabilitation, managing anxiety, or even worrying about who will care for their pet while they’re in hospital. Clients often tell me they trust me, feel comfortable talking to me, and appreciate that our conversations can include everyday life as well as their case. I aim to be a steady, reassuring presence throughout their recovery.

Outcomes

ANON

A man was left with a brain injury in a case where liability was complicated and likely involved contributory negligence. The client had visa issues and was married with a four-year-old and a new baby, and neither partner was working or receiving benefits.

I supported the family by helping his wife with telephone calls and arranging food parcels, and by securing a Social Prescriber referral through Social Services. This led to free gym membership, which helped him both mentally and physically.

ANON

I supported a woman who developed anxiety and foot pain after an accident at work. When she was referred to our rehabilitation team she was still working, and I advised her that she should not be.

I encouraged her to speak to her GP about anti-anxiety medication and being signed off work, and I liaised with her employer to fund counselling and private physiotherapy. Her condition improved, and she thanked me for the support and guidance I provided.

My team

I work as part of a team that brings together a wide range of clinical and rehabilitation expertise. I contribute my nursing background and extensive experience in spinal injury and case management, and together we are tenacious in securing the best possible outcomes for our clients. Our combined skills mean we can provide truly holistic support throughout a client’s recovery.

What I enjoy about working at Fletchers

I love my role because I’ve been able to shape the direction of my team and the work we do. Colleagues at Fletchers are receptive to new ideas, and my past experience is genuinely valued. I enjoy the flexibility and autonomy the role offers, while always knowing I can speak to someone when needed. I work with teams across the business, from compliance to charities, partnerships and marketing, and I love representing Fletchers at conferences and external events.

Outside of work

I’m as passionate outside work as I am in it. I love meeting new people, chatting, and spending time with my black Labrador. I also enjoy gardening and being outdoors.
