Amy Kirk

I’m an Associate and Head of Birth Injury. I’ve worked in law since 2007, and have specialised in Clinical Negligence since 2014.

I have a particular interest in deceased and preventable death claims, stillbirths, traumatic births, orthopaedic injuries, psychiatric injuries, and group action work. I’m extremely passionate about ensuring that every client, no matter the size of their claim, has access to legal representation.

I fell into law after landing an apprenticeship in business administration at a PI law firm straight out of school. One of my key strengths is attention to detail so when I was asked by Fletchers CEO at the time in 2014 to specialise in clinical negligence, I jumped at the opportunity and immediately realised this area of law was what I was always destined to do. I love helping people and so supporting our clients through such an uncertain and apprehensive, and often the most vulnerable time of their life is so rewarding.

I’ve always found the more complex and sensitive cases the most rewarding as they command the most attention to detail; hence a particular interest in deceased/preventable death and stillbirth claims. Since having my two daughters, my passion for birth injury work grew. I was fortunate enough to have two good experiences delivering my daughters, but I have close friends who were not so lucky.

I have a real passion for putting people first, processes, consistency and sharing best practice, which led to my appointment as Head of Birth Injury in January 2026.

I’ve always found it easy to build rapports with my clients and defendants because of my honest and informal approach, managing expectations and sharing personal stories so I could be seen more as a friend than a lawyer.

Since moving into a solely leadership role in 2024, now my clients are my colleagues supporting our clients, and whilst I sometimes miss daily direct interaction with our clients, providing the operational support my teams need to enhance the service we provide to our clients and seeing the outcomes they achieve for our clients fill me with just as much satisfaction.

The love and care our teams give to our clients and their families during the most vulnerable time of their lives is heart-warming. I’m proud of how much we look after eachother, it really shines through.

I’m most proud of how Fletchers have always been committed to providing all clients access to justice, not just clients with a substantial claim value; every client’s story, injury no matter how big or small, deserves answers and the support to get the settlement they deserve. I love working for a company that celebrates and encourages us to be our authentic selves, providing opportunities to pursue our passions. When I started out my career as a lawyer, I only wanted to be the best lawyer I could be, but by celebrating my passion and strength for process and attention to detail, this has led to numerous career progression opportunities I would never have thought of pursuing.

I love the simple things in life catching up with friends and family, and going to the cricket to watch my husband with our daughters. I enjoy skiing, girls trips with my friends and my yearly large group trip to Haven which I’ve gone to all my life. My guilty pleasures are getting lost in a movie or series like Harry Potter or The Vampire Diaries (my comfort shows). Fun fact – I like to camp out on The Mall, whether it be for a royal wedding or the Queen’s funeral; me and my family (“The Pink Ladies”) once met David Cameron!
