Who am I

I started working in the legal profession in 2013, working in catastrophic personal injury, family law and commercial law before qualifying and taking on clinical negligence work. In 2013 I started specialising in birth injuries and have never looked back. I love what I do and feel privileged to be able to represent my clients.

I now focus exclusively on birth injury cases, and I’m passionate about getting results for the many families I support. I take care to get to know and understand my clients, and I work hard to secure the compensation they need to move forward. This approach has seen me succeed in representing many vulnerable families, who have all experienced incredible trauma and loss.

What I specialise in

Why I do this work

As a mother to two boys, I understand that families want their children to feel safe, supported and able to reach their full potential. This has inspired my passion for helping families affected by birth trauma and assisting them to achieve real justice after a challenging time. Seeing the strength families and children have in difficult times inspires me every day, and I am privileged to be able to represent them and be part of their journey.

How I work with clients

Every one of my clients is unique, so I take the time to get to know the family, building a strong relationship by understanding their needs. They have already had their trust broken by a professional, so it’s important to really listen and build that relationship through honest communication, active listening and being approachable. I have remained in contact with many families even after their case has settled, and this is down to the level of trust we have built together over the duration of the case.

Outcomes

KXL v Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

My client suffered a severe brain injury at birth, following an antenatal failure to recognise maternal gestation diabetes and deliver the birth early. We were able to settle successfully in their favour, and fund a full care regime to support their lifetime care needs

HS v Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

I supported a family following a maternal infection during labour, which crossed the blood-brain barrier causing injury to the baby. We were able to fund life-long care for the baby and support their development and independence over time.

SH v Cwm Taff Local University Health Board

I supported a family when their baby suffered a hypoxic brain injury during birth. There was a failure to recognise that mother had a torn uterus during labour, which directly led to the injury. We were able to purchase an adapted home to help our client build some independence and lead a fulfilled life.

CW v Cwm Taff Local University Health Board

My client suffered a hypoxic brain injury a birth, and was impacted for the rest of their life. The medical team failed to recognise that they were in distress during labour, and didn’t act in a suitable and timely manner. We were able to provide access to life-long care and purchase a new home that was adapted to their needs.
