Who am I
I’m a Team Leader, Partner and Head of the Birmingham office at Fletchers.
I first entered the world of clinical negligence in 1996, beginning my career as a defendant lawyer and gaining experience on high-profile class actions, including paediatric cardiac cases. After five years, I moved into claimant work, where I became joint head of a national team of around 40 legal advisors and was later promoted to Partner, leading complex cases.
I went on to join another firm as a Partner in 2016 before moving to Fletchers in September 2025 with the wider team.
Why I do this work
I’ve always been interested in medicine, but more so the implications of negligent medical treatment. I find the subject area fascinating, but my driving force is the impact of the work that I do to secure compensation to improve the quality of my clients’ lives. For example seeing a family, who have struggled for years providing round the clock care for their brain injured child, get a decent night sleep due to the implementation of a commercial night care regime following receipt of an interim payment, is the most rewarding aspect of my job. It’s about making a real and tangible difference to the quality of a person’s life. There is a real feel-good factor to this job which is unique to the area of law that I am privileged and extremely proud to work in.
How I work with clients
The ability to listen with empathy and understanding is really important, as is the ability to calmly reassure your client. I have two different personas – I adopt a firm, authoritative, but also collaborative approach in communications with Defendant’s Solicitors. I think the feedback and quotes from my clients provide the most insight of my abilities. I’m proud to be described as “Professional, polite and helpful”, and the Legal 500 refer to me a “handling pressure effortlessly”.

LOAD MOREWhat I enjoy about working at Fletchers
I’m proud to be a Partner and the Head of the Birmingham office and to have the opportunity to raise the external profile of Fletchers in the region and nationally. I also enjoy developing people so I’m grateful to have a lead role in Birmingham, which has a really positive and vibrant culture.

Outside of work
My family are my reason for living and are the centre of everything I do. I therefore spend most of non- working time with them engaged in mundane things like watching the TV, or sporting activities such as running, which is something I have become even more committed after recently running the Birmingham Great Run. I also enjoy interior design, and would rather spend an afternoon walking around Ikea than Selfridges!
