Workplace Accident Leads to £6,500 Compensation for Injured Worker
Settlement figure: £6,500.00
Claim Type: Workplace Accident Claim
Lawyer assigned to the case: Samantha Cummings
Our client, a 35-year-old General Operative was asked to move a full 5ft gas bottle by his manager. The client was unaware that the bottle was full and would not have attempted to move it had he known. While lifting the heavy bottle, he lost his balance and fell, crushing his left hand between the gas bottle and a table.
The client suffered a broken left hand, which left him unable to work for three months. During his recovery, he relied heavily on others for transportation and assistance with daily activities, including dressing and other basic tasks.
The case was managed by ELPL Lawyer Samantha Cummings, whose expertise ensured the client’s rights were upheld. Thanks to Samantha’s efforts, we secured a compensation settlement of £6,500.
Motorcyclist Secures £15,500 Settlement After Collision
Settlement figure: £15,500.00
Claim type: Motorbike accident claim
The client was stationary on his motorcycle, when a driver who was in front of the client reversed into him. As a result, he sustained an injury to his cervical spine. The client had a pre-existing condition, and medical assessments confirmed that the accident had accelerated his symptoms, bringing them forward earlier than expected.
While liability was admitted, complexities arose regarding causation. Initially, the client was offered £5,000 in compensation. However, through their lawyers dedication and persistence, we successfully negotiated an increased settlement of £15,500.
IT Contractor Wins £2,500 Compensation After Slip on Hazardous Manhole Cover
Settlement figure: £2,500.00
Lawyer assigned to the case: James Hammond
Our client, a 55-year-old IT Contractor was on his way to the shops when he slipped on a newly installed manhole cover. The cover, a temporary measure for electric charging points, was extremely slippery in the rain, and had no anti-slip coating.
As he stepped on the cover, the client slipped backwards when his left foot went from under him, resulting in injury to his right ankle and a relapse on an existing back injury.
A claim was originally directed to Sunderland City Council. However, it was determined that responsibility lay with Connected Kerbs, the contractors who installed the EV charging point.
The case was handled by Litigation Executive, James Hammond. Through his efforts, the claim was successfully resolved, and our client received a settlement of £2,500 for his injuries and the impact on his life.
