£55K settlement and rehab package secured for injured biker

The incident 

A 42-year-old security supervisor was riding his motorbike on a main road when a car pulled out from a junction and hit him from the side, knocking him off his bike. As a result of the collision, he suffered the following injuries: 

• A head injury 
• Lost consciousness 
• Multiple broken ribs 
• Injuries to his neck 
• Injured right arm 
• Injured chest 
• Injured right foot 

In addition to these injuries, he also later developed weakness in his left arm and leg. Along with physical injuries, he experienced psychological symptoms and was diagnosed with adjustment disorder with anxiety and depression. 

The case 

Personal Injury Solicitor, Jane Lyons, assisted by Trainee Solicitor, Matthew Burke and Paralegal, Sarah Campbell, handled the case. They immediately requested intensive rehabilitation to support the client’s recovery. This rehabilitation was funded by the other party and lasted nearly two years, allowing the client to receive necessary tests and treatments privately, avoiding NHS delays. Happily, this rehabilitation package significantly improved his recovery. 

The outcome 

Liability was quickly admitted by the other party, but their initial compensation offer was rejected as insufficient. By gathering more evidence, including expert medical opinions, Jane and her team negotiated a more appropriate settlement. The case settled for £55,000. The client, eager to resolve the matter due to his psychological symptoms, was relieved to avoid a court trial.
