Client receives compensation for slipping on water in Tesco

The incident

Our client was involved in an incident where they slipped on water in a Tesco store and sustained injuries from the fall.

Working as a paramedic, our client was bruised on her hip and thigh, impacting her ability to work.

Our client naturally sought compensation for this incident, which is where we came in to help.

The aftermath

Our client sustained injuries to both her hip and thigh, resulting in bruising.

This incident took 6 weeks for her to fully recover.

However, the incident caused little to no long-term impacts, which is positive.

The case and outcome

The case was handled by Helen Ellis – a personal injury lawyer.

The Tesco store in question initially denied our client’s claim on the basis they had a good system of inspection in place. However, upon further investigation, our team deduced that the freezer had been leaking for 6 months and hadn’t been checked for 6 hours.

Our team decided to run and draft a POC (Particulars of Claim) – a formal document that outlines a party’s case.

This was in order for Part 7 to be issued – Part 7 is used in cases where there are disagreements between the parties, and involves a more structured process with detailed evidence and the potential for a full court hearing.

However, after asking for a copy of the medical report, the store made a reasonable offer for compensation, which the client was happy to accept.
