Who am I

I’m a Senior Associate at Fletchers. I represent clients in complex clinical negligence claims, specialising in supporting those affected by life-changing injuries as a result of poor treatment by NHS Trusts, GPs and private doctors.

I have worked in medical negligence since 2013 and have a particular passion for women’s health issues and supporting women following mismanaged labours. I have achieved successful outcomes for clients in claims involving third- and fourth-degree tears, urinary incontinence, faecal incontinence, prolapses and psychiatric injury.

Why I do this work

I believe everyone should have a chance to investigate bad outcomes they have suffered. I’m grateful to act for people, regardless of their means and background. I’m often the only lawyer they have ever dealt with and it’s a privilege to guide them through the process. I’m inspired by diligent medico-legal experts who scrutinise cases with diligenc,e and help guide clients to understand what happened in their cases.

How I work with clients

I take clients as I find them. If they have never engaged in a legal process before, I take time to explain things clearly and give them time to ask questions. I don’t use legal jargon, Latin or case law with my clients. Clarity is king. I make the law work for me. I’ve litigated cases all the way to trial, amended pleadings, made Part 18 requests, the lot.

Outcomes

Client feedback – “I am extremely grateful to Teri, the team, and the expert witnesses for their support and guidance. At every stage in the journey, I felt included and valued, whilst also understanding the wealth of expertise I had fighting my corner. Unless I had sought advice from the team I would have accepted the line that I was “just unlucky” from treating staff at the time of my injury and as such I can’t thank the team enough for what they have done for me”

My team

What makes this team special is the way each member brings distinct strengths together, combining strong client communication, efficiency, attention to detail, expert engagement and clear leadership to deliver a well-rounded and highly effective service for clients.

What I enjoy about working at Fletchers

I enjoy working with talented lawyers who take pride in their work and assisting clients. I love to watch clients get the answers they so desperately seek and find their voice in the process. It’s a privilege to act for people when they have been let down. They come to me in some of the most difficult circumstances of their lives, struggling, despondent, angry and sometimes bereaved. I treasure the opportunity to help them find their voice, tell their story and get to the bottom of their complaints.

Outside of work

I’m an avid board game player, attending conventions, board game weekends away and hosting events in my own home. I’ve shared this love with colleagues during games night social events! My favourite game is Terraforming Mars, a card driven strategy game involving asteroids, oceans, city building and microbes to make Mars habitable.
