Ruth Thomas

I’m an Associate Solicitor at Fletchers that represents individuals and families who have suffered life-changing injuries as a result of medical negligence.

I qualified as a solicitor in September 2016, having previously worked as a paralegal in medical negligence from 2012 to 2014 and gaining further experience during my training contract.

I have experience across a wide range of clinical negligence matters, with particular expertise in brain injury and fatal injury claims.

Securing compensation for clients is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work, particularly knowing the significant difference it can make to their lives. It can help provide access to the care, rehabilitation, and support they need to move forward after life-changing injuries. It is incredibly fulfilling to see the positive impact that financial recovery can have on both clients and their families.

I take a personable and friendly approach to working with my clients. Feedback from reviews often highlights that I am professional but compassionate and sympathetic. I always make sure to keep clients updated and explain things thoroughly, as this is often a very unfamiliar process for them.

The main things I enjoy about working at Fletchers are the friendly team environment, the collaborative approach to working and the value and complexity of the work, it’s a challenge but so rewarding.

Outside of work, I enjoy an active lifestyle centred around travel and sport. I’m particularly passionate about scuba diving and skiing, and I also keep fit through gym classes, padel and hiking. I enjoy ice skating, table tennis, and spending time with friends and family. I also have international experience and a strong sporting background, including living in Madrid for nine months, working in the US as a lifeguard and completing extensive figure skating qualifications.
