Who am I

I act for individuals who have suffered life changing injuries through medical negligence and the families of patients who have suffered harm due to negligent medical treatment.

Since qualifying as a Solicitor, Priya has worked on a variety of cases, including delays in diagnosis of cancer, surgical errors, orthopaedic injuries, fatal claims and amputation claims.

I strive to achieve justice for my clients by getting them answers for the devastating events they have been through. I make it my priority to understand what has happened to them and investigate their claims forensically and methodically in order to seek a successful conclusion and get my clients the closure they deserve. I provide bespoke legal advice to my clients and ensure that I understands my clients’ concerns and needs. I investigate my clients’ claims thoroughly and carefully and focuses on achieving the best outcome possible.

In acting for claimants, I advocate for patient safety so that the NHS can learn from mistakes in order to avoid further life changing injuries.

What I specialise in

Why I do this work

I studied medical negligence during my degree and developed a strong interest in the field. When I began applying for paralegal roles, I explored opportunities across a range of firms, including a specialist medical negligence practice. Although I received offers elsewhere, I chose to pursue a role in medical negligence as it felt the best fit for me. It quickly became clear that I had made the right decision. Almost ten years on, I remain as committed and passionate as ever, and I would not consider practising in any other area of law.

How I work with clients

I adopt a client-centred, proactive, and empathetic approach, recognising that clinical negligence claims are often deeply personal and complex. I take the time to truly listen and understand each client’s circumstances, including the impact of their injuries on daily life, so that I can build a case that fully reflects their needs and long-term future. I pride myself on being approachable and responsive, providing reassurance and clear communication throughout the process. Alongside this, I am tenacious and strategic in pursuing claims—progressing matters efficiently, robustly advancing my client’s position, and engaging constructively but firmly with the Defendant where needed. I combine strong technical analysis with a practical, solution-focused mindset to achieve the best possible outcomes, while ensuring clients feel supported, informed, and confident at every stage of their claim.

Outcomes

ANON

I was involved in the Supreme Court appeal, supporting representation of the claimant in relation to secondary victim psychiatric claims in medical negligence cases.

This was a landmark case to establish whether people who have witnessed a serious injury to another person due to medical negligence are entitled to bring a clam for resulting psychiatric injury.

The case required specialist knowledge and skills and although the appeal was unsuccessful, it established clarity that secondary victims in such cases no longer need to prove the that the injury was caused by the mechanism of a “sudden shock to the nervous system” and was a sufficiently “horrifying event.”

My team

What makes my team particularly effective is the strength and balance of skills across all levels, with each individual playing a key role in supporting the client’s journey. We work collaboratively, combining technical expertise, practical experience, and strong communication to deliver the best outcomes. Senior lawyers provide strategic oversight, guidance on complex legal and causation issues, and ensure cases are progressed with sound judgment and a commercial approach. At my level, I take ownership of progressing matters day-to-day, driving strategy, managing experts and counsel, and maintaining strong client relationships. Paralegals and junior team members bring organisation, attention to detail, and responsiveness, ensuring that cases are managed efficiently and clients are kept informed and supported throughout. I actively support their development by delegating meaningful tasks and providing guidance, which strengthens both the individual and the overall team. Together, this creates a cohesive and supportive environment where each case benefits from multiple perspectives, ensuring clients receive a high standard of care, clear communication, and a well-managed path from initial instruction through to resolution.

What I enjoy about working at Fletchers

My career at Fletchers to date has been both rewarding and progressive, giving me the opportunity to work on complex, high-value clinical negligence cases while continuing to develop my technical and practical skills. I have found the work particularly fulfilling, as it allows me to make a meaningful difference to clients navigating often life-changing situations, helping them move forward with confidence and security. I value the level of complexity and responsibility I have been entrusted with, including involvement in high-profile litigation and managing my own caseload, which has enabled me to build strong technical expertise and operate at an Associate level. The variety of work and ability to specialise in clinical negligence has further strengthened my interest and commitment to this area of law. The culture at Fletchers is supportive and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on development and progression. I feel trusted and supported by my team, and I benefit from working alongside experienced colleagues while also contributing to the development of more junior team members. The flexibility offered by the firm also supports a sustainable and productive working environment. Overall, I enjoy being part of a team that is focused on delivering excellent client outcomes, while also investing in its people and providing clear opportunities for growth and long-term career progression.

Outside of work

Outside of work, I am a very family-oriented person and value spending quality time with those closest to me. I enjoy maintaining a good work-life balance and using my free time to recharge, whether that is through socialising with friends, trying new restaurants, or simply relaxing and unwinding after a busy week. I have a strong interest in personal development and enjoy setting goals for myself, both professionally and personally. I also enjoy keeping active and partaking in weekend activities that allow me to switch off from work and maintain a healthy routine.
