Who am I

I’m an Associate and Chartered Legal Executive in the Serious Injury team, with over 20 years’ experience specialising in personal injury claims. I have spent the last 12 years at Fletchers, focusing exclusively on serious and catastrophic injury cases, supporting clients whose lives have been permanently changed by traumatic accidents.

My work involves managing highly complex claims from the outset, including gathering detailed evidence to assess liability, working closely with defendants and insurers to secure early funding for rehabilitation, and liaising with case managers, therapists and treatment providers to ensure my clients receive the support they need at every stage of their recovery.

Why I do this work

I meet clients at the worst time of their lives, I’m motivated by the thought of improving their lives, making things easier for them, and getting them back to the person they ‘used’ to be, whilst navigating their new ‘normal’. I have a young family myself and I always put myself in the position of the clients and their families, and consider how my family and I would be in a similar situation, which is a huge driver for me in trying to do the best I possibly can help and support people. There’s nothing better than seeing how far somebody has come on their rehab journey compared to how they were at our first meeting.

How I work with clients

I like to build a good rapport with my clients, so they feel they know me and are comfortable when talking to me about the issues they are facing, be that physically or emotionally. I meet my clients from the outset of the case and at regular points throughout the lifetime of the case. I also prefer to talk to my clients on the phone to maintain that relationship with them. I believe I’m a good listener and will support clients any way I can. I try to work collaboratively where I can with Defendants but I’m a confident litigator when that is not possible.

Outcomes

ANON

We secured an interim payment which allowed the client and his family to purchase a new property and have the same suitably adapted so they could leave their temporary rental property which they had been in since the accident occurred, having had to leave their family home due to it being inaccessible.

ANON

Client was able to begin a new relationship after regaining some confidence and self-esteem through psychological support and strategies. Due to the very personal nature of her injuries, her confidence and mental health were destroyed due to her ongoing continence and lack of sexual function.

My team

We have a strong team combining excellent organisation and client focus, deep experience in complex cases, and a shared commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes with empathy for clients and their families.

What I enjoy about working at Fletchers

Fletchers is very good at recognising hard work. I’ve been able to progress my career consistently throughout my time within the company, during which time I have had two children, which can sometimes be seen as a hinderance in terms of career prospects, but this has not been the case for me. Fletchers is an incredibly flexible business to be a part of, and in my experience, is happy to work with you when it comes to flexible working. The people around me are all incredibly supportive and motivational, creating a great working environment and culture. We also support many charity partners in various ways including with sponsoring events, providing expert legal support.

Outside of work

I’ve been married for nine years and have two little boys. Life can be really busy with work, so we like to go away together whenever we can, or will go on days out to the park, beach, safari parks, zoos or theme parks.
