Who am I
I began my legal career as a paralegal in a clinical negligence team, having always had a genuine interest in medical law.
During this time, I gained experience across a diverse range of claims, building a strong foundation in both the legal and medical aspects of the work. Through that exposure, I developed a particular interest in more complex and high value cases, where the impact on clients and their families is especially significant.
I later chose to focus on serious and catastrophic injury, completing my training under Denise Stephens. I have now worked alongside Denise for over 8 years, continuing to develop my expertise in complex injury litigation, with a particular focus on birth injury cases.
I’m passionate about supporting clients who have experienced life-changing injuries and approach my work with empathy and a focus on helping them rebuild their lives. More recently, I have worked on complex cerebral palsy and spinal injury claims, which require dedication, care and close attention to detail.
What I specialise in
Why I do this work
I’m motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in serious and complex injury work, where legal outcomes can have a lasting impact on people’s lives.
Birth injury cases in particular resonate with me because they involve the most catastrophic errors which occur at the very beginning of life and often affect entire families. These cases require both technical expertise and genuine empathy, and I value the responsibility of helping clients navigate such challenging circumstances.
What continues to inspire me is the ability to support families in securing the care and resources they need, while ensuring their voices are heard. The combination of complexity, client focus, and impact drives my commitment to this field.
How I work with clients
I take the time to really get to know my clients, not just their case, and to understand how their injuries affect their everyday lives. I’m approachable and always available to offer reassurance when it’s needed. I aim to strike the right balance between being supportive and providing strong, effective representation. Visiting clients at home is particularly important to me, as it helps ensure their individual needs are fully understood and met.
I feel I’ve found my vocation in representing clients who have experienced the trauma of clinical negligence. I take pride in building strong, trusting relationships and am committed to providing the highest level of service, always working to achieve the best possible outcome for those who place their trust in me.
Outcomes
I’ve worked on a number of cerebral palsy claims which have settled successfully. The most recent settlement was just before trial was due to commence. In this case, while the settlement itself was significant, what stands out most is the impact it had on the family’s day to day life and their sense of the future. For the parents, the early years had been filled with uncertainty navigating complex medical needs, advocating for their child, and managing the emotional and physical demands of care.
One of the most important turning points came when they began to feel a sense of reassurance that their child’s future would be secure. The settlement has allowed for the implementation of a comprehensive care and therapy package, giving their child access to the support they need to maximise their independence and quality of life.
Just as importantly, it has enabled the Client to find their “forever home” creating a space that works for them and removes some of the daily challenges they had been facing.
From the family’s perspective, this wasn’t about the value of the claim, despite it being a substantial settlement of over £37 million, but about what it made possible. It gave them confidence in the future, reduced the constant pressure of providing care without support, and allowed them to focus on being a family.
With the right care in place, the parents were able to step back from the role of full-time carers and spend more quality time with their child, rather than focusing solely on managing their needs.

LOAD MOREWhat I enjoy about working at Fletchers
My role at Fletchers is particularly rewarding because of the complexity and importance of the work in serious and complex injury cases. Each case requires careful planning, collaboration with experts and a clear understanding of my clients’ long-term needs, which has helped me develop my specialism, particularly in birth injury.
I’m supported by a collaborative and knowledgeable team, where everyone contributes their strengths to achieve the best outcomes. The flexibility of the role also allows me to balance the demands of the work while remaining responsive and focused on my clients, making it both challenging and sustainable.
